Florida International University has several experts who are available to discuss current energy issues such as rising gas prices, offshore drilling, alternative energy sources, and energy security, including the economics, politics and science surrounding these topics.

Edward Glab
Dr. Glab, clinical professor in the Department of Management and International Business and co-founder of the Energy Business Forum at FIU, has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including 25 years in the private sector. Dr. Glab is an expert on various aspects of the global energy industry, including oil and other fossil fuels. Dr. Glab is available for interviews in both English and Spanish.

George Philippidis
Dr. Philippidis is associate director of FIU’s Applied Research Center, co-director of the Energy Business Forum, and director of the Center for Energy and Technology of the Americas at FIU. Dr. Philippidis, an expert on energy security issues, can discuss the political, economic and other ramifications of energy security policy, including issues such as oil and offshore drilling.

Antonio Jorge
Dr. Jorge is professor emeritus of political economics at FIU. His expertise includes the economics of oil supply and demand, as well as the economics of the energy industry. Dr. Jorge is available for interviews in both English and Spanish.

Stephen Leatherman
Dr. Leatherman is a coastal scientist with a background in offshore drilling. Dr. Leatherman also is director of FIU’s International Hurricane Research Center and is known as “Dr. Beach” for his annual selection of the “Top 10 Beaches” in the United States.
