Byron Pitts, an Emmy award-winning journalist and contributing correspondent to CBS’ 60 Minutes, will serve as keynote speaker at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s annual student celebration and awards ceremony, presented as part of the Hearst Lecture Series.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, April 2, at 5 p.m., in the WUC Ballroom at Biscayne Bay Campus, is free and open to the public.

The student celebration and awards ceremony caps the SJMC’s Annual Communications Week, which exposes students to a wide variety of events, an impressive collection of guest speakers and opportunities to have professional résumé critiques.
