I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Rosenberg a couple of semesters ago. Dr. Musoba invited him to be a guest speaker in a doctoral level policy course that she was teaching at the time, and he had the entire class riveted for the hour that he spoke to us (or rather, enlightened us). We were all impressed by his vast knowledge and experience, tempered by his refreshing and extremely rare humility. What an excellent choice he is for president of FIU! What an excellent person he is–period! No doubt, FIU will prosper under his leadership despite the monumental challenges that is facing and will face in the next few years.

Dear Mark;

As a founding faculty member (July, 1972), I have been in love (for nearly 40 years) with founding President Chuck Perry's "Manifesto" entiltled: "The Making of a University and Plans for Its Development". I retired in 2002 but have continued to follow the course of this wonderful university. I wish you the very best in your stewardship of The University. The slogan "FIU in '72" that drove us to excel back then now seems only a heartbeat. I'm re-energized and reminded all over again by the passing of the torch to your able hands. I am proud and honored to be identified with such a noble and remarkable institution. God speed my friend.

While I did not support Rosenberg as the best candidate for FIU, I cannot say that I am dissapointed. I wish him well in his new position and hope he will bring back the "student-centered" FIU all of us want and need.
