University ‘goes green’ with stationery needs, negotiates better prices in process

When FIU’s stationery contract expired, university employees seized the opportunity to negotiate better prices, greater convenience and, in keeping with the university’s environmental initiatives, a chance to “go green” in one more area of university life.

When FIU’s stationery contract expired approximately eight months ago, Kristina Sanchez, production manager in FIU’s Office of Publications, began searching for a quality paper that featured a high recycled content and was cost effective. After learning more about the many options that are available today, Sanchez and university designers selected a paper with 100 percent recycled content.

“It was important to us to contribute to the university’s efforts to go green,” says Sanchez.

The result is a new university contract with 3-D Graphics, a South Florida printer. The following items can be ordered online: business cards, letterhead, envelopes, invitations with matching envelopes, notepads and conference folders. With the new contract comes significantly lower prices. For example, university employees can now order 500 business cards for $24.75. As a bonus, customers who purchase letterhead will receive an electronic version at no additional cost.

Online orders can be paid for via ProCard or purchase order.

The site is ready to accept orders for the items mentioned above. To place your order today, please click here.
