The goal was to sign up 2,000 new members to the FIU Alumni Association in less than two months. In a new video-message, FIU President-designate Mark Rosenberg thanks the blue-and-gold community for exceeding his expectations.

Last May, shortly after being selected as the university’s fifth president, FIU President-designate Mark Rosenberg issued a challenge to the Alumni Association to recruit at least 2,000 new members within two months.
The deadline? June 30.
The result? “We recruited more new members in two months than many other schools recruit in a full year,” said Duane Wiles, executive associate director of the FIU Alumni Association.
“Wow, we did it,” Rosenberg said in a video thanking the FIU community and its supporters. “We achieved our Panther Pride Challenge of over 2,000 new Alumni Association memberships in the last two months. I am so pleased [because] great things are happening at Florida International University.”
Great achievement from the Alumni Association responding to the new President Rosenberg call! These are the positive and good things that we must be involved to rise up our university. We did it but I know it could be much better. It is a shame that all this happened simultaneously when the issue of the FIU new name was on. However, our comrades demonstrated with facts that when we want, we can do it. Thanks to all those who without hesitation, said present. I am sure that all of us are ready for new and more challenges in the near future. Our next step is to achieve consistency. Thanks to Executive Director and Associate Vice President, William Draughon,Associate Executive Director Alumni Relations, Duane M. Wiles, and their entire staff for their efforts, not only during the campaign, but for showing the important role that the Alumni Association plays in our institution. Thanks,
William H. Perez
As one of the new 2,000……congrats on a job well done!

Congrats! Keep growing and keep connected. Our relationships and degree's will be much more valuable as new members keep joining and supporting FIU.
As another of the new 2000+ members of the Alumni Association, I look forward to the growth at FIU under our new President Mark Rosenberg. Yeeha!
Unlike Maidique, [edited text] Rosenberg offers a bright light for FIU's future. He really loves FIU, and his passion for our university, will bring it amongst the best in the nation. GO PANTHERS!!
