Olsen, the former director of graduate studies at FIU, studied art in Cardiff and the Academy of Fine Art in Munich and is widely considered to be one of the most original painters to come from the Welsh Valleys. His artwork was inspired by the natural landscapes and traditions of his homeland and Miami’s environment and light.

Meanwhile, the “Poet’s Room. Teorema” exhibition is a result of the partnership between CEE, Govern de les Illes Balears and Institut Ramon, Spain. The show will include work by Spanish artist Horacio Sapere, a documentary series and a roundtable discussion by scholars on the subject of the Balearic philosopher Ramon Llull’s work.

The first Target Wednesday After Hours event of the fall semester will include a performance by the Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble, founded in 1992 by Andrea Mantell-Seidel, an FIU professor of dance.
