Yarimar Rosa spikes her way through 2009 Pan American Cup

One of FIU’s MVPs, Yarimar Rosa, 21, competed with the Puerto Rican team at the 2009 Pan American Cup, June 26-July 4. Rosa was the first FIU volleyball player ever to be selected to play for her country’s senior national team.

A three-time All-American, she spiked the ball 49 times during the tournament, ranking 22nd among all competitors and third in her team.

This season, Rosa hopes to lead the Golden Panthers to a second-consecutive NCAA Tournament and her fourth-straight season with All-America recognition.

FIU opens its 2009 intercollegiate campaign the weekend of August 28-29 in Lexington, Ky., at the Kentucky Classic against Western Carolina, Northwestern and the host Wildcats, who captured second place in the Southeastern Conference overall standings in 2008, their best finish since 1990.

Tickets to all FIU home games are free and are available at the door of FIU Arena. For stats, news, and up-to-date information, visit www.fiusports.com.
