Adoption Benefits Program

The Department of Children and Families Florida’s Adoption Benefits Enrollment period ends Sept. 30, 2009. Under the program, state employees and teachers who adopt children from the department may be eligible for a one-time stipend of $5,000 or $10,000 depending on the special needs of the child adopted.

State employees can begin researching whether or not they are eligible by visiting the Department of Children and Families Web site. Just click on the icon for the Adoption Benefits Program to learn more about the program or to download an application for benefits.

University employees must complete and submit applications to the Division of Human Resources to be considered for the benefit. Once the Division of Human Resources certifies an employee’s application, it must be submitted, along with a certified copy of the final order of adoption, by the close of business on Sept. 30, 2009, to:

Department of Children and Families
Office of Family Safety, Adoption Unit
1317 Winewood Blvd.
Tallahassee, Florida 32399

Please be reminded that employees who applied in previous years and were not awarded a benefit must reapply in order to be considered for the adoption benefit this coming fiscal year.
