FIU’s winningest team will rock U.S. Century Bank Arena Friday, Oct. 23, when it takes on conference foe Arkansas-Little Rock at 6:30 p.m. Undefeated in conference play at 9-0, the volleyball team is anxious to show FIU fans why it’s currently ranked No. 16 nationally out of 330 teams.

Friday’s match will have special meaning: FIU volleyball is teaming up for the night with the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, the College of Engineering and Computing, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to support breast cancer awareness, education, prevention and the search for a cure. At the 10-minute break between sets, head coach Danijela Tomic will present a breast cancer survivor who is a member of the FIU family with a pink volleyball, signed by the team, in support of all breast cancer survivors who are part of the FIU family.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® organization will have a table at the event and a representative there to answer questions and hand out free literature.

The first 200 fans to arrive will receive a free “Dig Pink” t-shirt or bracelet.

“Our vision is to have a world without breast cancer,” says Bobbi Meyers, executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure ® Miami/Ft. Lauderdale affiliate. “That’s why the efforts of these college students are extremely important in helping raise breast cancer awareness and funds for breast cancer treatment and screening programs.”

Tickets are available at the door. FIU students with ID get in free, FIU faculty/staff tickets are $3, all other tickets are $5.
