John Paul II returns to FIU – on film

Picture it: Miami, 1987. Pope John Paul II celebrated an open air Mass at FIU.

Twenty-two years later, official selections of the first John Paul II International Film Festival, co-sponsored by the university’s Program for the Study of Spirituality, will be shown at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

“We are very proud to be a co-sponsor of the John Paul II International Film Festival,” said Nathan Katz, director of the Program for the Study of Spirituality. “We are especially pleased to have the opportunity to bring films of enduring value to our students, our campus and the community.”

The John Paul II International Film Festival is scheduled for Oct. 29-Nov. 7. Venues include GC140, RBD 1100 and the Frost Art Museum.
