Volleyball team leaves home with a win against FAU


The Golden Panthers defeated the Owls, 3-0, on Oct. 6 at MMC’s U.S. Century Bank Arena, improving their SBC record to 5-0. The team is headed to Denver and North Texas for games Oct. 9-11 before coming home for a match against Troy on Oct. 16.

FIU defeated Sun Belt Conference (SBC) rival Florida Atlantic, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 29-27), on Oct. 6 at U.S. Century Bank Arena at Modesto A. Maidique Campus, improving to 15-2 on the year and remaining unbeaten in SBC action at 5-0.

Senior Yarimar Rosa led the Golden Panthers in kills for the night with 13, while sophomore Sabrina Gonzalez and senior Isadora Rangel added nine kills apiece. Natalia Valentin contributed to the offense with 35 assists and was also active on the defensive side of the net, leading FIU in digs with 18 while Rosa added 10 digs.

Up next for the Golden Panthers are away games against Denver on Oct. 9 and North Texas on Oct. 11. FIU will return home on Oct. 16 for a match against Troy.
