FIU concert features international music about Cuba


WHAT: The Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University will present “Classically Cuban: The World Sings to Cuba” a concert featuring an anthology of songs and instrumental music about Cuba compiled by author and independent scholar Emilio Cueto. The music was written by composers across the world, representing 22 countries, four continents, seven languages and two centuries. An ensemble of FIU and University of Miami musicians, under the direction of FIU Professor Armando Tranquilino, will play the selections. A reception will follow the concert with cocktails courtesy of Caldas Rum.

WHEN AND WHERE: The concert will take place 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center Concert Hall at FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, 11200 SW 8th St., Miami, FL, 33199. Use the entrance at Southwest 16th Street and 107th Avenue. Free parking is available in the Blue Garage, across the street from the Concert Hall.

Tickets are: Adults $30; Senior Citizens and Non-FIU or UM Students $25; FIU and UM Students, Faculty, and Staff $15.
