FIU was handed its fifth loss in seven games on Nov. 23 when Murray State beat the men’s team, 84-71, at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

The game capped the Miami regional in the 2K Sports Classic, benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

“We got really sloppy with our execution at the end of the first half,” head coach Isiah Thomas said, “and then [we] came back and made a good run at it but we had given up so much that when we did make our run, it was basically to get back into the game, not necessarily to give us the lead. But for the most part, I was pleased that our guys fought hard and they hung in there.”

The Panthers will be on the road beginning on Nov. 28 until Dec. 31 when they come back home to host South Alabama.

Meanwhile, in spite of a 56.3 percent performance from the three-point range, the women’s basketball team lost, 67-56, to Wisconsin-Green Bay on Nov. 21.

Up next for the Panthers is the 15th Annual FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27 when they host Saint Joseph’s at 5 p.m. and St. John’s at 7 p.m.

Anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy or canned food item will be admitted for free for the day.
