People on this thread are drinking hatorade. Pepsi Rocks! Coke Rocks! Get a life if you think this somehow affects the education system. Its a beverage people. You may choose not to drink it.

Very glad I read this brief article before going to school tomorrow. I now know I need to pack my own Coke~Cola.

I'd just like to know what the school is getting out of this; percentage of the sales, funding of a major program, or possibly a new building? If an answer is allowed to be published … that might make for some interesting reporting/reading.

Pepsi is in fact disgusting, but regardless of what my personal preference is, students should have a choice as to which cola brand they can purchase on campus. Sadly our college values corporate dollars over individual student rights. Go Panthers?

I guess negative comments are not allowed on this message board. FIU's responsibility is not towards its faculty, students and staff, but rather to its corporate benefactors. To hell with education as long as the people on top prosper. In what ways does this acquisition benefit the body of FIU?

I am really disappointed. I really can't stand the taste of Pepsi. Chances are the replacement was a result of Pepsi offering more money or something. Looks like I'll be drinking more water and bringing in drinks from home

Also, to the person who used the Taste Challenge as an argument: the Pepsi Taste Challenge is a flawed marketing system.

It is terrible that the campus has commited to one brand. Many people like Coke and must have the option to buy it. Now they are forced to go outside of campus if they really desire the beverage. I am definately not shocked. This is FIU! They never really care about the students needs. One way all the time. The FIU way.

I stopped drinking Coca Cola years ago when they stole the polar bear mascot from Polar corporation. Their corporate scum lawyers took a 100 year mascot from Polar corporation. Polar products are not sold outside of New England and Coca Cola had nothing to fear from the small company, BUT they decided to steal their mascot and use it as their own. I am disgusted with Coca Cola as a company and am VERY happy we have switched over to Pepsi !!!!

So one corporate high-fructose corn syrup laden drink product is being replaced with another one. Big deal. To me, the difference between Coke and Pepsi is akin to Republicans and Democrats. Different product, same result.

Pepsi dosnt mix well with anything. It is way too sweet. Coke is just about right. Coke is just a better product. Our campus use to have Pepsi before (if im not mistaken). Coke came in during the whole football launch. I think it's a nice change of pace – but for how long? And yes, I agree with the other response – I think the university should have Coca Cola products sold somewhere on campus (possibly GC to give people a mix of products, not a one size fits all). Most people don't know this but Coca Cola sometimes costs restaurants MORE. Why is that? Well, Coke knows that it's a much better product and charges a premium. I recently found that out when I spoke to a south beach restaurant owner…..especially for the nightclub scene – Coke just mixes better!

I cannot believe that the Coco-Cola machines are being replaced with the less desired soda product (Pepsi). If Pepsi is cheaper it is due to the fact that less people want to drink it. I am pleading that Coca Cola be sold somewhere on campus.
