Cast your vote or submit your photo for Pic of the Week

Architecture student Edwin Estrada took the Pic of the Week during FIU Stadium's inaugural home game, FIU vs. USF, on Sept. 20, 2008.

On Sept. 20, 2008, during the fourth quarter of FIU’s first home game in the then brand new FIU stadium, photographer Edwin Estrada noticed the sun disappearing behind the clouds casting an orange glow. He thought it a picture-perfect moment during a defining event in FIU history.

On Dec. 9, Estrada’s photo was chosen by popular vote as the winner of the Pic of the Week, FIU’s new photo contest that showcases the university’s talent while highlighting an element of FIU: buildings, landscape, campus life, school spirit – doesn’t matter as long as FIU is the focus.

Students and faculty/staff can submit their original photo for consideration at floridainternational@yahoo.com by 4 p.m. on Wednesdays for the following week’s contest. Only pictures that are FIU related and in good taste will be considered.

The winner is chosen by popular vote (fans vote by “liking” their favorite) on FIU facebook to be featured in the news.FIU.edu media gallery and on facebook. Polls open on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and remain open for voting until the following Monday at noon.

The Pic of the Week is announced Mondays at 1:30 p.m.
