Faculty, staff share joy of season at annual holiday event

The FIU family gathered in celebration Dec. 9 at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg celebrated his first holiday season in office with more than 1,300 of his closest friends and colleagues – just like he wanted.

The occasion? The annual President’s Holiday Celebration at U.S. Century Bank Arena at Modesto A. Maidique Campus, an annual tradition that brings together members of the FIU family from across the university. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and fun, DJ’d music and a performance by David Hernandez, a 6-year-old Michael Jackson impersonator who delighted the crowd with his take on “Billie Jean.”

The season’s spirit of giving was alive and well. Guests brought approximately 1,000 new, unwrapped toys that were donated to many deserving organizations throughout South Florida.
