Alumni Spotlight - Lindsay Oesch

Name: Lindsay Oesch ’08

Degree: Bachelor in International Business. Minor in French.

My work: I am a regional outreach consultant for the Academy of Art University, a private art school in San Francisco. I am responsible for their marketing and special events where I live in New York City, across the east coast and as far west as Texas.

My inspiration: My inspiration to succeed comes from God, as well as the support of my friends and family.

My family: I am the youngest of three children, raised by a single mother since the age of 4. My mother was a prison guard, a police officer and then a college professor. My sister went into police work and I took the higher education route. It was a strict upbringing, which kept me focused. My family is one of hard-workers in their own respective fields.

My proudest accomplishment: I spent a year in France while in high school and lived on a farm. Having come from the suburbs of Orlando, it was difficult to learn the French language and take care of 600 goats and 400 pigs every day. I have so much respect for agriculture now.

How do you bleed Blue & Gold? Every chance I get, I tell people about my wonderful experience at FIU. I use it as an example daily on my job because the college you choose defines who you become. FIU’s Residential Life gave me my best friends. Delta Sigma Pi, my business fraternity, taught me how to network. And the College of Business gave me insight on how to effectively communicate cross-culturally in a global society.
