The men and women constructing FIU’s new School of International & Public Affairs building at Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC) put in a full day Saturday, Jan. 16. A member of the newsarchives.fiu.edu team happened by the weekend construction and took some video clips. The $40 million classroom and administrative complex is scheduled to open November 2010. The completed structure will boast the largest auditorium on campus (480 seats), a 10,000-square-foot green roof (currently the largest in South Florida) and a proposed Silver LEED certification.

This is great news. I am a proud graduate from FIU's MPA program, and I am tremendously excited about this new building. It will bring so many opportunities and discoveries.
Hey, this is cool!
Wait, we're actually applauding that workers are having to work on this building on Saturdays?
What's your point? I work on Saturdays sometimes. People do not always have the same days off.
It is exciting that all the disciplines that make up the School of International & Public Affairs will have its own building. This should provide faculty and students a wonderful opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and learning. It's good to see the university investing resources into these programs, as opposed to just investing in the business, law, and health programs.
