FIU celebrates Gov. Crist’s endorsement of new Florida initiative

MIAMI (Jan. 28, 2010) — FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg said Thursday that he welcomes Gov. Charlie Crist’s approach to transforming Florida’s economy and his commitment of $100 million in new funding.

“We commend Governor Crist for his far-sighted approach to expanding jobs in Florida,” said Rosenberg, following Crist’s endorsement of the New Florida Initiative, presented by Chancellor Frank T. Brogan and Board of Governors Chair Sheila M. McDevitt. “We join with the Governor, the BOG, the Council of 100 and the Florida Chamber of Commerce in their view that universities can be the driving force in Florida’s prosperity.”
