And the winner is… (drumroll, please): Diego H. Hurtado. Hurtado works with FIU’s Facilities Management Department as the manager for Aramark, the university’s grounds contractor.
He took the winning photo last summer in the afternoon while touring the campus, which he does often as part of his job.
“I truly believe that FIU has the most beautiful grounds in the nation,” said Hurtado, who has been at FIU for 10 years.
Students and faculty/staff can submit their original photo for consideration at floridainternational@yahoo.com by 4 p.m. on Wednesdays for the following week’s contest. Only pictures that are FIU related and in good taste will be considered.
The winner is chosen by popular vote (fans vote by “liking” their favorite) on FIU facebook to be featured in the news.FIU.edu media gallery and on facebook. Polls open on Mondays at 6 p.m. and remain open for voting until the following Monday at noon.
The Pic of the Week is announced Mondays at 1:30 p.m.
Great picture by Mr. Hurtado! Having been on many campuses across the nation, I happen to agree that FIU is one of the most beautiful! Keep up the good work!
There's algae in the lake, the tree in the background looks like it's dying, and the fountain should be in the middle of the picture as the focal point.
I think it's a great shot. Putting the fountain in the middle of the frame is predictable and boring. I like it off to the side.
