Agroecology Program to host symposium Feb. 9


FIU’s Agroecology Program will host its fourth Annual Agroecology Symposium Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the MARC Pavilion at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Focusing on urban agriculture in South Florida, the symposium will feature a panel discussion, “Urban Agriculture and the Local Food Movement in South Florida,” as well as poster and oral presentations about sustainable agriculture, agroecology and bioenergy. Panelists will include Miami-Dade County Executive Office agricultural manager Charles LaPradd; Marvin Dunn, executive director of Roots in the City, Inc.; and Gabriele Marewski, owner of Paradise Farm Organics.
