Hope for Haiti: YUPA! to host Zumba for Haiti fundraiser

Panthers are encouraged to show their support for the island nation on Feb. 20 in Coral Gables.

A Zumba class last July brought together a group of Panthers and their friends.

The FIU Alumni Association’s YUPA! (Young Urban Professional Alumni) chapter and the Greater Miami Chamber’s HYPE group will host Saturday, Feb. 20, an interactive Zumba for Haiti workshop at the Coral Gables headquarters of the Linq Financial Group.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Suggested donation per participant is $15. Aside from raising awareness for the survivors of the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti, proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward local Haiti relief efforts.

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international dance themes that creates a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system. Participants should wear comfortable, lightweight clothing and supportive athletic shoes.
