“Shutter Island,” based on Panther’s work, now in theaters


Today marked the arrival in movie theaters across the nation of Shutter Island, the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of the novel of the same title written by Dennis Lehane ’01, a graduate of FIU’s Creative Writing Program.

Starring an all-star cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, the thriller follows the story of a couple of U.S. marshals who arrive in the titular island to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a mental patient committed to an institution for the criminally insane.

The movie co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, and Michelle Williams.
