The Paths of Public Health Awards seek nominations


MEDIA ADVISORY

WHAT: The Paths of Public Health Awards was established to recognize individuals and organizations in public health, including social work and dietetics, for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community.  The awards also serve to raise the community’s awareness and understanding of the contributions made by public health professionals. The first annual Paths of Public Health Awards was held in September 2006.

The awards categories are Health Policy & Management, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Epidemiology and Infectious Disease, Environmental and Occupational Health, Community Nutrition, Social Work and the Robert Stempel Award.

WHO: Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work is committed to recognizing outstanding South Floridians who are working to improve and maintain the health of the community.  The awards are intended to recognize community contributions and achievements of the recipients. Honorees will receive awards based upon their impact.

WHEN AND WHERE:  April 6, 2010. The reception will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will take place at noon.  The event will be held at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus in the Graham Center Ballroom, 11200 S.W. 8th Street, Miami.

The forms and ticket information also are available through this link.  Each individual nominated must be a Florida resident who works in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade or Monroe Counties and must have made outstanding and sustained contributions on behalf of the community.
