The Wolfsonian-FIU presents Federico Uribe’s “Slowly But Surely” through March 14

The Wolfsonian-FIU unveiled Feb. 19 “Slowly But Surely/Lento Pero Seguro,” a site-specific mixed-media installation by Colombian-born artist Federico Uribe on view in the museum’s Bridge Tender’s House, which is located right in front of its Washington Avenue entrance in Miami Beach.

The installation, presented in conjunction with the museum’s gallery display “Advertising for Health,” will remain on view through March 14.

"Slowly But Surely" is now on view in The Wolfsonian-FIU's Bridge Tender’s House located right in front of the museum's Washington Avenue entrance in Miami Beach.

In “Slowly But Surely/Lento Pero Seguro” Uribe transforms discarded healthcare equipment into a wry meditation on the commonplace. Crutches, a wheelchair and walkers have been reassembled into a tree, a bicycle and a dog. This ordinary urban scene, placed within a “green field” comprised of drug capsules and discarded pill containers, invites the viewer to experience the work on multiple levels: aesthetic, physical and psychic.

The Wolfsonian-FIU is located at 1001 Washington Ave., Miami Beach. Admission is $7 for adults; $5 for seniors, students and children ages 6 -12; and free for museum members, State University System of Florida staff and students with I.D., and children under six years of age.
