An evening of Russian opera, an event to benefit FIU


WHAT: Florida International University’s Prestige Cultural Series presents “An Evening of Russian Opera” with the singers of the Lyric Orchestra. The event, to benefit FIU’s Biscayne Bay Excellence Fund and Scholars Fund as well as the School of Music, will feature short pieces from several famed Russian operas, including Queen of Spades by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, Volga Boatmen’s Song by Alexander Glazounov, and The Maid of Orleans, also by Tchaikovsky.

WHO: The event is sponsored by the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Bal Harbour Village, Town of Golden Beach, the City of North Miami Beach, Citizens Interested in the Arts, US Century Bank, Dr. Jules Oaklander and Aventura Commissioner & Mrs. Billy Joel.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 7 p.m. The event is $15 per person ($10 for Sunny Isles Beach residents). A reception will follow. 

WHERE: Sunny Isles Beach Community School, 201 182nd Drive in Sunny Isles Beach.
