FIU Football Coach Mario Cristobal thanks community, remembers Kendall

Last night, the FIU Football team and FIU community suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Kendall Berry. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Kendall had an infectious personality; he was loved and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. It was truly an honor to have known and coached Kendall. It’s a shame to lose such a young life to an act of senseless violence.

FIU Football, coaches, and staff, will do everything possible to help Kendall’s family as well as his teammates get through this trying time. We will come together and help each other overcome this tragedy.

All football team activities have been suspended indefinitely while we mourn the loss of Kendall. We are in the planning stage of a memorial for Kendall early next week and more details will be made available soon. In the mean time, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy.

On behalf of Kendall’s family and FIU Football I want to thank everyone in the FIU community for the prayers and support we have received during this difficult time. It is with your support that we will grow even tighter as a community and eventually, when the time is right, move forward.

Mario Cristobal

FIU Football Coach
