Since its inception last October, FIU Leaders in Practice (FLIP) has been dedicated to developing business alumni into leaders by actively engaging them in community service.

FLIP, a program of the College of Business Administration, has worked tirelessly to reach out into the South Florida community and plant seeds of leadership among our feature leaders – high schools students.

On March 19, the organization hosted a Career Day for 50 students from three area high schools: Edison, Coral Gables and South Ridge.

The event, held in the College of Business Administration Complex at Modesto A. Maidique Campus, featured workshops on applying to college, financial aid, career choices and other college matters; a campus tour; and a lunch presentation by motivational speaker and FIU graduate Frank Kelly ’01.

“Our months of planning and hard work paid off,” said Kunle Ekunkonye, a founding member of FLIP. “The event was a resounding success not only in terms of teamwork, logistics, fundraising and marketing, but primarily because of the students’ feedback. They told us how the experience was enriching and inspirational, and that’s what really matters.”
