Interactive campus maps available

Finding your way around campus just got a bit easier. FIU’s online campus maps offer users many of the same interactive features available on Google maps.

The maps cover Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Biscayne Bay Campus, the Engineering Center, Pines Center, the Metropolitan Center downtown, and Wolfsonian-FIU.

Here are some of the features:

• Click on markers to find buildings and landmarks
• See what services are available at a specific location
• Search by keyword or alphabetically
• Mark and bundle several locations, then email it to campus visitors
• Navigate using satellite view
• Browse photos and videos available online of several locations

To create the new dynamic maps, the Web Communications team partnered with FIU’s GIS Center, which provided expertise in the use of geographic information systems, including the use of the Google maps api.
