Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart visits CARTA

U.S. Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart attended a presentation by professor Nicolás Quintana, on the research project “Havana and Its Landscapes,” at the College of Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) Office of the Dean on April 8.

This study of the city of Havana, Cuba, is being conducted by Quintana and former CARTA dean Juan Antonio Bueno. Joining the congressman was FIU Vice President Steven Sauls and a small group of businesspeople from New Jersey.

Professor Quintana presented a lecture on the history Havana and offered suggestions for the revitalization of the city in the future. He also presented many of the models and posters of Havana created by the students from the FIU Architecture program.

Quintana will be lecturing on Havana at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., at the end of April and at The Cooper Union in New York City in May.

FIU officials and event guests surround professor Nicolás Quintana (seating) after his presentation earlier this month.
