FIU’s new Web site, Part III: A sneak peek

Next week FIU launches its new home site.

After more than a year of research, months of testing and thousands of hours of sweat equity, FIU’s Web Communications team will debut the newly redesigned home site next week. This version of FIU’s home site is unlike any previous incarnations. Here’s why.

What you’ll find

The Web Communications team of Matthew Herzberger, Fabian Alcantara and Andre Oliveira has done its best to improve your online experience, whether you’re new to FIU’s site or a regular visitor.

The new main page was designed with future and current students in mind. As mentioned in previous posts, the redesign features new user-friendly functionality, content, photography and architecture overhaul of the existing www.fiu.edu.

New audience pages have been created for future students, current students, faculty and staff, alumni and parents. Each page features quick links that are likely to be useful to that audience, as well as a section that tracks the most popular links in the last 30 days:

Every page will include a “Website Feedback” tab located on the left side. Herzberger and his team hope visitors will share their thoughts and observations about the new site to the same degree that they did with the old site.

“This Web site is a work in progress,” says Herzberger. “We know user feedback will make it even better.”
