Softball hosts last home stand of the season May 1-2

Team sweeps SBC weekly awards

FIU softball, 32-16 on the season and 13-6 in Sun Belt Conference action, will host SBC foe Louisiana-Monroe at the FIU Softball Complex this weekend, May 1-2.

The team plays a double header Saturday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Bring your dog out for Bark in the Park; admission is $3 for kids and adults who bring a pet. Petco will be at the game with promotional items and coupons. The series finale is Sunday at noon.

Ealier in the week, for the third time this season, FIU swept the SBC weekly softball awards. Freshman Brie Rojas was named Player of the Week and senior Kasey Barrett was tapped Pitcher of the Week. The accolade is the second of its kind for Rojas, while Barrett’s nod marks the fourth of the season and ninth of her career.

The Sun Belt Conference Tournament is slated to begin May 13 in Mobile, Ala.
