FIU’s Garrett Wittels extended his NCAA leading hit streak to 50 games on the season, eight shy of tying Robin Ventura’s 1987 NCAA Division I record of 58.

Wittels, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, accomplished the feat as FIU took a 2-1 advantage into the top of the fourth against Western Kentucky in a May 27 elimination game at the SBC Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
