New Chair appointed to FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Advisory Council


MIAMI – Dr. Omar M. Pasalodos has been named chairman of FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Advisory Council, a board of community leaders who help connect the college to the community.

Pasalodos, 59, has a wide range of administrative experience both on hospital committees, and since his retirement, as director of several medical groups. For 12 years, Pasalodos was a partner in the medical clinic of DeCenzo, Reisman, Kellogg, Pasalodos, MD, PA.

Now retired from the practice of Ob-Gyn, Pasalodos continues to fill important roles in several community and philanthropic organizations, including as a board member of the Coral Gables War Memorial and Youth Center, immediate past president of the Miami Ob-Gyn Society, past president of the William A. Little Ob-Gyn Society, previous member of the Public Safety Committee for the City of Coral Gables, immediate past president of Informed Families and board member of the Health Foundation of South Florida, which give $7 million annually to health related organizations in the tri-county area.

Pasalodos remains on the board of both Ob-Gyn Societies. He also has been president of the Aescuplian Society since 2002 and serves as a physician liaison with Baptist Health System in the areas of physician relations, donor relations and international business development.

Through his leadership, Dr. Pasalodos is sure to make an important mark on our burgeoning college.”

Pasalodos is a graduate of the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital Obstetrical-Gynecological Residency Program and obtained his medical degree at the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

I am thrilled to be involved with the FIU’s Wertheim College of Medicine,” he said. “For many years, I have had a deep love and passion for medicine and its mission. I will now have the opportunity help take this new, innovative and dynamic medical school to the highest possible level.”

The Advisory Council serves as the HWCOM’s principal advisory board. Members assist the College in various matters that are of strategic importance, including community outreach, partnerships and resource development.
