Young artists’ talent on display in ‘Creative Visions’ exhibition

For the seventh consecutive year, talented elementary, middle and high school artists are exhibiting their work at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum. Creative Visions runs through May 23.

A crowd of nearly 500 students, teachers, family members and art lovers turned out May 12 for the opening of the seventh annual Creative Visions student art exhibition. Hosted by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez (District 11) and The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, the exhibition features the work of talented artists from District 11 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), including elementary, middle and high school students.

The annual juried exhibition was conceived in 2004 to highlight the artistic achievement of K-12 children in District 11. Hundreds of children have participated in the program since its inception. A panel of judges select two- and three-dimensional artwork from each elementary, middle and high school within District 11 for display. Awards were presented to the artists during the May 12 opening reception, as well as a number of scholarships to the museum’s art summer camp.

This annual exhibit is the product of a partnership between the museum, Martinez, M-DCPS and the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs Division of Life Skills-Art Education Program.
