FIU students receive Fulbright awards


Three Panthers are among the more than 1,500 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad during the 2010-’11 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

Majelissa Luna ’07, MIB ’10, Heidi Smith and Miryam Rodriguez ’10 have been selected for Fulbright U.S. Student awards for the upcoming academic year.

Luna was awarded the Fulbright Comexus Binational Business Grant.

Smith, a Ph.D. candidate in the FIU Public Management/Public Administration Doctoral Program, received the Fulbright Public Policy Initiative Grant.

Suarez is currently selected as an “alternate” for the Fulbright program in Croatia.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
