What do you enjoy most about your job?

The wonderful relationships I have established over the years.

What do you think students and your fellow faculty/staff should know about your department?

The Division of IT is FIU’s central technology service provider. It consists of four technology organizational units, including University Technology Services (UTS), the IT Security Office, the Center for Internet Augmented Research and Assessment (CIARA) and the Office of the CIO.  The Division strives to 1) provide courteous, knowledgeable and reliable assistance and consultation in the use of technology to the FIU community, 2) maintain the most efficient and effective operation to provide to best service possible and 3) collaborate with other technology organizations in the university.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

Although it has been cited before, I love the garden where the fountain is. When I go to get coffee in the mornings, I see the gardeners taking care of the area and I appreciate their hard work in maintaining it the way it is. It is a lovely and peaceful area and I wish I could spend more time there.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?

FIU has changed and grown immensely since I first started here in 1998. But year after year, as I watched new structures go up, including the law school building and the HLS buildings, FIU has continued to maintain its sense of community and family. That’s what I would want people to know about FIU. It is a welcoming university with friendly faculty and staff.

How are you “Worlds Ahead”?

I don’t believe that I am a “Worlds Ahead” story. However, the Division of IT is since its vision is to advance FIU as a leader in using technologies for learning, teaching, research and administration.
