Business students excel at national conference

FIU business students added to the summer heat with their blazing hot performance at the 2010 Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference held July 8-12 in Nashville, Tennessee.

After five days of workshops, competition, awards and presentations, nine Panthers returned home triumphantly with awards in various categories. In addition to the individual awards, the chapter was named Florida’s FBLA-PBL chapter of the year and was ranked among the top five chapters in the nation out of more than 100 chapters for the second year in a row.

Chapter history was made when the organization’s two projects, “Business Olympics 2010” and “Tribute to Children” were awarded first place in the nation. The “Business Olympics 2010” project involved coordinating the FIU Business Olympics for the FIU community and the “Tribute to Children” project raised awareness about the Children’s Miracle Network and donated funds to Miami Children’s Hospital.

Former FIU FBLA-PBL president and incoming senior Jose Betancourt was elected to the FBLA-PBL National Executive Board as National Secretary for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Congratulations to the FIU winners:
