State roadway project to impact S.W. 8th Street at the Florida Turnpike

News.fiu.edu thought you should know: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is beginning a roadway project July 9 that will impact S.W. 8th Street/Tamiami Trail/State Road 90/U.S. 41 at the Florida Turnpike. The project is scheduled to last approximately seven months.

The project includes adding another designated left-turn lane from S.W. 8 Street to the northbound and southbound Turnpike entrance ramps, widening the entrance ramps, placing crosswalks along S.W. 8th Street and repaving and restriping the roadway, among other improvements. To complete the work safely, it will be necessary to close traffic lanes and sidewalks at times. At least one lane will be open in each direction at all times.
