FIU and the Greater Miami Chamber to host candidate forum


WHAT:  Florida International University and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will host a congressional forum to give the community an opportunity to hear the candidates running for Congress in District 17. Candidates will discuss their positions, explain their stance on critical issues that affect South Florida, and explain how they plan to represent their district in Washington D.C.

WHO:  All candidates were invited. Confirmed candidates include Phillip Brutus, Scott Galvin, Shirley Gibson, Rudolph Moise, André L. Williams and Frederica Wilson. FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg will open the forum and WPLG political reporter Michael Putney will moderate. The Miami Herald and Univision/Channel 23 are co-sponsoring the event. 

WHEN AND WHERE: Thursday, August 12th at 4:30 p.m. (reception and registration) at FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 N.E. 151st Street in North Miami. The event will take place at the Wolfe University Center Theater and will begin at 5 p.m. To attend a complimentary reception, an RSVP is required by noon on August 12th.
