In a nutshell: I oversee and supervise the Campus Services Department.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Having a good working relationship with people that I have known for many years and working with people that I am just getting to know. Knowing that our work efforts help keep the university moving forward and give our community a university that they can be proud of.

What do you think students and your fellow faculty/staff should know about your department?

The positive attitude, effort and dedication from the employees in Campus Services never waivers. Our department is committed to getting the job done.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

The fountain area has always been a favorite. The landscaping is the best on campus and it has always had that real college campus feel. The real South Florida feel.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?

How much it has grown. I run into people that have not been on campus in years and they always comment on how they cannot believe that is has gotten so big. There is so much offered at FIU that people really need to come out and see.

How is FIU “Worlds Ahead”?

The diversity of our students at FIU has always put us in such a unique position as a university to grow and learn. The level of technology in our buildings and classrooms is constantly changing. It has been exciting to watch the changes over the years at FIU.

Family snapshot:

I have been married to my wife, Janet, for 24 years. We have two great kids, Eric, who is a junior at FIU, and Kristen, who is a sophomore at the University of Evansville.

Word that best describes you: Loyal.

First paying job: Washing dishes part time at an Italian restaurant when I was 14 years old.

Favorite TV show: Cash Cab.

What is playing on your iPod?

Blues and classic rock. Johnny Winter, ACDC, Jackson Browne, Albert Collins.

Your proudest accomplishment:

Raising my children to respect others and to work hard toward their goals.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

I spend as much time as possible outside, taking advantage of the great South Florida weather. I like to fish and cook and I make an effort to exercise as much as possible.
