Inside move-in day at MMC

Approximately 3,000 students made FIU their home this year.  On Friday, Aug. 20, hundreds of students, along with their parents, moved carloads of belongings into the residence halls at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

The news.FIU.edu team gave Resident Assistants flipcams to document the special day. Students shared what they couldn’t leave home without and parents gave some parting advice.

Housing and Residential Life first opened its doors on the Biscayne Bay Campus in 1984. Home to 300 students, Bay Vista Housing is the only housing complex at BBC.

University Park Apartments opened in 1986, and was the first housing area at MMC. The first residence hall was opened in 1996 in the “Housing Quad”. The Quad consists of five residence halls that are now home to 2700 students.
