In a nutshell: I teaching classes, primarily in entrepreneurship, and serve the department and university through committees and other community services.

Number of years at FIU: Off and on, 17 years. I took off five years to open two Chicken Kitchen franchises, selling them in 2005.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Offering students real-world learning opportunities that can’t be found in textbooks based on my 28 years in the business world.

What do you think students and your fellow faculty/staff should know about your department?

We have numerous opportunities, like internship programs, that offer professional development to our students.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

The Green Library. It represents a microcosm of what FIU is all about, from learning to collegiality.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?

That we know that entrepreneurship is the backbone of our country’s economy. There are numerous resources and opportunities available at our Center for Entrepreneurship, from learning opportunities such as seminars and webinars to exceptional networking events.

How is FIU “Worlds Ahead”?

From our global perspective to our community outreach programs, FIU’s faculty and students truly represent our namesake of Florida International University.

It’s me, my wife, Jean, and my two daughters, Erin and Allison.

Word that best describes you: Interested.

First paying job: I worked at Sunshine State Bank in South Miami. It no longer exists.

Favorite TV show: Sports of most any kind.

What is playing on your iPod?

Classical music.

Your proudest accomplishment:

Building my family, from my wonderful wife to my two lovely daughters.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

I like to play tennis. I’m currently finishing my doctorate degree. And I like spending time with family and friends.
