In a nutshell: I work with the Office of Business Services and the Office of the General Counsel on university contracts and other legal matters. I also teach First Year Experience.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working as part of a team to implement new ideas at the university and then seeing how the university community enjoys the result of our combined efforts.

What do you think students and your fellow faculty/staff should know about your department?

My department is not only integral in the development of FIU, but also tries to enhance the student, faculty and staff experience on a daily basis. It begins with morning coffee, but runs all day long in multiple areas.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

My favorite spot on campus is FIU Stadium. I was working in Athletics the year the stadium opened, and I respect our students’ ability to excel in both academics and athletics.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?

I wish everyone knew what a large, powerful alumni network FIU has in South Florida.

How is FIU “Worlds Ahead”?

FIU continues to implement programs and services that are increasingly serving as the model for other universities instead of simply following their lead.

Family snapshot:

I have a daughter, Emily, and twin sons, Jake and Max. The newest addition to our family is a Jack Russell Terrier puppy named Boston.

Word that best describes you: Responsible.

First paying job: My first paying job was at Subway at age 14. I made sandwiches on weekends and after school.

Favorite TV show: Grey’s Anatomy.

What is playing on your iPod?

Bruno Mars and Lifehouse have recently taken over my iPod.

Your proudest accomplishment:

Going back to school and earning my master’s in public administration as a single parent.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

I spend a lot time enjoying everything Miami has to offer. My family and I love to attend community and cultural events, go to the beach, or spend an afternoon at the local dog park. We also attend many sporting events at FIU.
