The Path Awards seek nominations


FIU’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work is seeking nominations for this year’s Path Awards, established to recognize individuals and organizations in public health, social work, and dietetics for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community.

The awards categories are Health Policy & Management, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Epidemiology and Infectious Disease, Environmental and Occupational Health, Community Nutrition, Social Work and the Robert Stempel Award. The deadline to nominate someone is Feb. 1, 2011.

The awards are intended to recognize community contributions and achievements of the recipients. Honorees will receive awards based upon their impact in improving the health of the public. To be considered eligible for this award, each individual must be a Florida resident who works in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade or Monroe counties and must have made outstanding and sustained contributions on behalf of the community.

The awards will be held April 5, 2011 at the Florida International University Graham Center Ballroom on the Modesto Maidique Campus, 11200 SW 8th Street in southwest Miami-Dade County.
