Latin Grammy Award-winning bassist Eddie Gomez comes to MMC April 7


Legendary bassist and Latin Grammy Award winner Eddie Gomez will join FIU’s Jazz Faculty Quartet on Thursday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m., for a performance to benefit the School of Music.

Gomez has been on the cutting edge of music for more than four decades. He has performed with jazz giants such as Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Michael Brecker and  Jack DeJonnette. He has also collaborated with classical and popular music figures including Richard Stoltzman, Carly Simon, Art Garfunkel, Mark Knoffler and many more.

Eddie Gomez will perform at MMC on April 7.

His unique sound and style has been heard in hundreds of performances and recordings spanning the worlds of jazz, classical, rhythm and blues, as well as popular and contemporary music.

For this special benefit performance, Gomez will share the stage with saxophonist Gary Campbell, pianist Mike Orta and drummer Rodolfo Zuniga. This concert is presented by WDNA Radio and the School of Music and will take place at the Concert Hall of the Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

General admission is $25, $15  for seniors and FIU faculty/staff and $10.00 for FIU students and FIU Alumni Association members. Tickets are available online. For more information, call 305-348-0496.
