Introducing Crystal-Lee Naomi ’09

Panthers, this next week you have to watch a short film online.

It is not just any short we are directing you to but one featuring one of your own, Crystal-Lee Naomi ’09.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication alumna is featured in The Magic Ribbon, a Sprite Refreshing Films and Dreaming Tree Films production starring Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels (TV’s So You Think You Can Dance).

Naomi plays Kaitlyn, a talented ballet dancer whose mother has passed away. Although Kaitlyn is very talented, she can only dance in front of people when she wears a ribbon that once belonged to her mother. She loses the ribbon, but ultimately gains the confidence and courage she needs to shine.

“I am so excited to share this film with my friends, family and the people who support me,” the up-and-comer said. “It’s my very first lead role in my very first film!”

The Magic Ribbon is in competition with five other shorts from different cities across the nation commissioned by Sprite for a nationwide contest. Pairs of films have been going up against each other for the last couple of weeks, and come April 23-May 2, the Miami film will be face off against the one from Los Angeles for its shot.
