Join FIU softball April 17 in promoting awareness for ovarian cancer

The FIU softball team (23-21, 9-6 SBC) is inviting everyone to attend its game against conference rival Western Kentucky University (WKU) on Sunday, April 17, at noon. The team will be promoting awareness for ovarian cancer in several ways during the game.

Sunday’s series finale will be played in honor of those affected by ovarian cancer. The student-athletes and coaching staff will wear special-edition teal jerseys to be auctioned off during the game. All proceeds will be donated to La Liga Contra el Cancer. A special first-pitch ceremony will also take place.

Approximately 13,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. This is a great opportunity for everyone to turn out and help spread awareness of an illness that strikes many families and communities.
