For FIU grads, winning a free hardwood degree frame is a ‘snap’

FIU graduates will have their shot at winning a $150, double-matted, hardwood “Classic Medallion” degree frame (below) from the Barnes & Noble FIU bookstore during its “Best Grad Pic” contest this summer.

The contest, administered by the bookstore, encourages alumni and recent grads to showcase their best graduation photos. E-mail submissions will be accepted beginning Monday, June 20, following Grad Send-Off, through Monday, August 22.

All submitted photos will be uploaded to the FIU Facebook page, allowing fans to vote – via “likes” – for their favorite picture. All appropriate pictures will be admitted and voting will last from August 22 – 29, when voting will close at 5 p.m.

“We’re looking for creativity and real emotion in these photos,” said Dan Salzverg, assistant general manager of Barnes & Noble at FIU. “We want to celebrate the pride that goes along with being an FIU graduate – whether it was 30 years ago or just this summer. That’s why we chose Facebook and that’s why we chose a degree frame. We want to showcase the accomplishments of FIU Panthers around the world.”

The winner will be selected by popular vote at the end of the voting period and will be featured in the news.FIU.edu media gallery, as well as on the FIU Facebook Page and Flickr.

To view the prize in person, visit us at Grad Send-Off on June 20 – 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Barnes & Noble FIU bookstore at MMC. To submit a photo for the “Best Grad Pic” contest, send a detailed e-mail with your name, address, phone number, degree and favorite grad day photo to fiugradpics@gmail.com.
