President Rosenberg advocates for Pell Grants in D.C.

Florida International University President Mark B. Rosenberg joined U.S. senators, college presidents and college students in advocating for protecting Pell Grants at a news conference on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, July 19. U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, both from Maryland, joined Rosenberg and seven other university presidents from institutions with significant minority populations to highlight the importance of Pell Grants to the nation’s economic prosperity. Dozens of college students also attended to tell lawmakers how important Pell Grants are to their ability to achieve economic mobility and help the U.S. maintain a competitive labor force. In South Florida, 60,000 students currently receive Pell Grants.
